The Residency Project (TRP) is an independent, artist-run residency and community arts organization founded in 2018. We are inviting applications for two (2) Resident Fellowships. The awarded Resident Fellows will join us for a 2-month summer program at our primary residency location in Pasadena, California and on our 2-week artist retreat in Silverton, Colorado.

COMPENSATION
In addition to a stipend, each Resident Fellow will be provided with…

  • residency housing,

  • grocery essentials, and

  • shared studio space

...for the 2-month duration of their fellowship at our primary residency location in Pasadena, California, where they will cohabitate with one other Resident Fellow and two TRP Stewards.

If the Resident Fellow seeks college internship credit, we are also happy to work with your school to ensure that you receive credit for your work with The Residency Project.

  • Give a public talk about their own creative practice (virtually, most likely).

  • Assist with the planning and facilitation of TRP’s two-week artist retreat in Silverton, Colorado from June 11-25. The Residency Project will provide travel to/from Colorado + camping accommodations for the fellows. Responsibilities will include:

    • administrative assistance to the Director as needed

    • assistance in the preparation and clean-up of communal meals

    • participation in programmed excursions

  • Assist with tasks around The Residency Project to prepare for the coming residency season. Responsibilities will be assigned according to the Resident Fellow’s skill sets, but may include running errands, patching/painting, minor repairs, clean-up and organization of the studio and storage areas.

  • Research grant opportunities and assemble application materials.

  • Photograph and catalogue artworks in our collection.

  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

  • Abide by all COVID-19 precautionary guidelines put in place by The Residency Project, which will be set in accordance with best practices and the law.

The Resident Fellow should be able to demonstrate the following skills and characteristics.

REQUIRED:

  • Be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited degree program.

  • Be a practicing artist, independent curator and/or arts administrator and be able to provide a record of activity. (We’re not looking for a long exhibition/work history, just evidence that you have an active practice.)

  • Be extremely organized and tidy. (You will be sharing a household with multiple people and will be expected to assist with clean-up and organization throughout your fellowship.)

  • Be extremely comfortable in the outdoors. (You will be camping during the two-week artist retreat in Colorado. All equipment will be provided by The Residency Project. The artist retreat will also entail several outdoor excursions that you’ll be expected to participate in.)

  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral language skills.

  • Be personable and comfortable working with people of diverse backgrounds and identities.
