Sustainability

The Residency Project is a zero-waste organization.
What does that look like?

✔ Pasadena Zero Waste Partner
Packaging-free kitchen and laundry products
Nontoxic cleaning products
Low-energy LED light bulbs
Reusable air filter + Eco heating and cooling
✔ Patronage of local vendors to support local economy and reduce carbon footprint
Plant-based, plastic-free and (whenever possible) packaging-free pantry provisions
✔ On-site fruit, vegetable, and herb garden
Volunteership with Food Forward’s Backyard Harvesting Program (100% of what is collected is donated to local hunger relief agencies!)
✔ Official partnership with Remainders Creative Reuse
✔ On-site composting
✔ Emphasis on digital networking, marketing, and communications (minimal printed material distribution, in which case we use recycled paper products printed locally with eco-friendly inks.)
✔ Elimination of disposables + adoption of reusable alternatives
✔ A secondhand first policy
✔ Commitment to intersectional environmentalism (BIPOC communities are disproportionally impacted by environmental injustices and climate change. We believe that social justice is integral to environmental justice.)
